Canoxidin is an innovative solution designed to prevent the risks of complications associated with indwelled urological devices like double J stents, Foley catheters, nephrostomies or urostomies. Canoxidin® combines the action of an acidifier, the L-methionine, with crystallisation inhibitors like phytates and theobromine. The acidification is necessary to compensate the alkalization of the urine pH, naturally associated to urologic devices indwelling. Keeping the urine pH in an acidic range promotes the generation of Nitric oxide, a bactericidal molecule. Increasing the concentration of inhibitors in the urine prevents crystallization and the deposition of calcium and uric acid crystals on the internal and external surfaces of the urological device.
